Cancellation & Refund Policy

At Delta Peru Adventures we guide high-mountain expeditions and multi day treks across the Cordillera Blanca and Huayhuash. Every expedition requires advance hiring of official guides specialized in high and medium mountain, muleteers, porters, mountain rations, and Huascarán National Park permits. Our policy is clear, transparent, and fair to protect both your journey and the mountain community.

90% refund of the total amount paid. The 10% retention covers administrative management and payment gateway fees.

15 to 29 days before departure50% refund

25% refund of the total cost. The 75% retention offsets committed operational and logistics expenses that can no longer be canceled without penalty in Huaraz.

Less than 7 days or No-Show0% refund

No refund applies. All mountain logistics, expedition food provisions, muleteers, cooks, private transport, and Huascarán National Park permits have already been paid in full.

Weather & Mountain Safety Cancellations (No Penalty)

In high mountain terrain, client and rope-team safety is non-negotiable. If prior to the start of the tour or expedition adverse weather conditions or official directives from Huascarán National Park / SERNANP prevent departure with full safety guarantees, you may choose to: (1) Reschedule the expedition to a future date with zero penalty, (2) Switch to an agreed equivalent alternative route/summit, or (3) Request a penalty-free refund of uncommitted expenses.

1. Free ReschedulingMove your dates to any good weather window within the next 12 months.
2. Alternative routeIf a high pass is blocked, we adapt the trek/climb to safer valleys or ridges.
3. Penalty-free refundDirect refund of uncommitted funds without Delta cancellation charges.

Health conditions, altitude illness and field evacuation

As part of our commitment to responsible guiding, we recommend and require adequate acclimatization days before attempting peaks above 5,000 m (16,400 ft). If during the expedition a participant exhibits severe acute mountain sickness or any medical issue, the certified guide will mandate an immediate descent for safety. Because field resources (guide, cook, porters, mules, and transport) are already deployed, no refunds are granted for unfinished days, while we ensure full assistance and safe transfer back to Huaraz.

“I’d rather turn down an expedition than deal with a poorly managed descent. The mountain will always be there.”

— Edwin de la Cruz, Official Mountain Guide (License 499)

Frequently asked questions about cancellations

Can I reschedule my expedition for another date or season?

Yes. If you notify us at least 15 days prior to your departure date, you can reschedule your trip within the following 12 months, subject to mountain guide availability and dry season conditions (May to September). For cancellations due to adverse weather or official park closures, date changes carry zero penalty.

Can I transfer my booking to another person?

Yes, you may transfer your spot to another person up to 7 days before departure. The replacement climber must meet the physical fitness and technical mountaineering prerequisites of the route (for example, glacier routes like Tocllaraju or Chopicalqui require prior crampon and snow experience).

What happens if my flight to Lima or bus to Huaraz is delayed?

Contact us immediately via WhatsApp. We will make every effort to adjust pickup times or wait for your arrival for private tours. For shared groups, if the delay prevents setting off on schedule, we will arrange an alternative or help you rendezvous with the team if logistics allow.

In what currency and payment method is the refund issued?

Refunds are processed back through the original payment method used during reservation (credit/debit card or bank transfer) and in the same currency paid (USD or PEN). International bank transfers may be subject to client intermediary bank charges.
